Awami League warns of tougher move for Sheikh Hasina's release PDF Print E-mail
Awami League, its front organisations and former leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League yesterday (March 31) concurrently warned the caretaker government that they would go for tougher movements if detained Awami League President Sheikh Hasina is not released immediately. Mentioning that Sheikh Hasina had been forcibly taken to jail from hospital before her treatment was complete, they threatened that the party's announced mass hunger strike would turn into an upsurge of demonstrations to free her.
 
Awami League chalks out Independence Day programme PDF Print E-mail

Awami League has chalked out a day-long programme to mark the Independence Day tomorrow (March 26). The programmes include the hoisting of national and party flags atop Bangabandhu Bhaban and party offices across the country at 5-45 am, placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at 6-30 am and at the National Memorial at Savar at 7-30 am and holding of a discussion meeting followed by a cultural function at party central office at Bangabandhu Avenue at 4 pm.

Acting general secretary of Awami League Syed Ashraful Islam, in a statement, called upon the people, in general, and leaders and workers of the party units, in particular to observe the Independence Day befitting manner.

A prayer session was held yesterday (March 24) at the Dharmarajik Bouddha Mahabihara at Sabujbagh for long life and early recovery of Awami League president and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who has now been undergoing treatment at the Square Hospital in the Capital city since March 11.
