PM Sheikh Hasina sought Qatari support in establishing a school in Dhaka for the autistic children

 Qatar will intensify its cooperation in the development sectors of Bangladesh, including river dredging, construction of road infrastructures, community health clinic and power stations. The assurance came when a 7-member Qatari delegation led by the visiting Qatari Minister for State and International Cooperation Dr Khaled Bin Mohammad Al Atiyah called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganobhaban here this morning. During the meeting, they discussed various bilateral issues and cooperation between the two Muslim countries including Qatar's assistance to Bangladesh's development endeavours, trade and business and export of Bangladeshi manpower to that country. The Prime Minister said Bangladesh attaches great importance to its brotherly relations with the State of Qatar based on commonality of history, culture and region and expressed the hope that the relations will reach newer heights in the days ahead. She thanked Dr Atiyah for leading the delegation to Bangladesh to assess the need for Qatari assistance. The visit would pave the way for a meaningful cooperation and would add significantly in further strengthening the bonds of fraternity between the two countries, she added. Laying emphasis on further strengthening the cooperation in trade and business specially in the private sector, the Prime Minister said frequent exchange of visits in the fields of education, art and culture and trade and commerce between the to countries should be expedited for the benefit of two peoples. During the meeting, the Prime Minister sought Qatari cooperation in establishing a school in Dhaka for the autistic children.
In reply, the Qatari minister assured of his government support to this end as well as Bangladesh's development sectors.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said that her government will arrange round the clock movement for the inhabitants of the Dahagram-Angorpota enclaves to the mainland. She also pledged that electricity would be provided for the people who live there. “As this piece of land is isolated from the main land, we have greater responsibility to the people of the area,” Sheikh Hasina said while inaugurating free healthcare service of the Bangabandhu Memorial Trust at Dahagram-Angorpota through video conferencing from her official residence Ganobhaban. Sheikh Hasina said though the country is suffering from power shortage, her government would provide electricity connection at Dahagram-Angorpota. The premier mentioned that her government is committed to providing better healthcare services across the country, including Dahagram-Angorpota. In this connection, she told the people of Dahagram-Angorpota that her government has already taken steps to revive 18,000 community clinics across the country. She said that punitive steps would be taken against the doctors who will not stay in their stations, especially in the rural areas. “But we will also provide lucrative facilities to the doctors who will perform their duties properly at the places like Dahagram-Angorpota.” Sheikh Hasina assured the people of Dahagram-Angorpota that the Dahagram High School will be nationalised. Regarding the newly inaugurated National Service Programme, she said that after completing the pilot project, her government would gradually include all areas of the country under the programme.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday told the Jatiya Sangsad that significant progress has been achieved in bringing dynamism in the public administration, reaching services to the people and disseminating information through opening websites of all government offices. The Prime Minister's Office sent necessary directives in this regard to different ministries and divisions to build a Digital Bangladesh as per the election pledge of the government, she said in reply to a query from treasury bench lawmaker Advocate Md Rahmat Ali in the House. Sheikh Hasina said concerned ministries and divisions should take initiatives and monitor in implementing the directives of opening websites of different offices. It is necessary to introduce Content Unicode of these websites in Bangla for the convenience of the ordinary people and necessary guidelines in this regard have been given in the National ICT Policy 2009, she said. The Prime Minister said initiatives have already been taken to open websites of 64 district administrations across the country to ensure facilities to all citizens. Directives have been given to Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) for hosting websites of all offices at its server, she said. Sheikh Hasina said the process of updating information of these websites from district administration offices through using easy ICT technology is going on without assistance from any foreign country.
