Love of common people is my asset. Their love is my power:
AL President Sheikh Hasina
July 17,2010
Tears of happiness rolled down the
cheeks of visibly emotional Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina while
she was handing over the deed of a land to widow Ramiza Khatun,
whose husband registered the piece of land in the name of Sheikh
Hasina in 2003 as a mark of profound respect to her.
Ramiza Khatun's late husband van puller Hasmat Ali bought a
piece of land in 2003 and registered it in the name of Sheikh
Hasina at Kharua Barail village of Rawna Union under Gafargaon
upazila of Mymensingh district.
"I am so happy that I have been able to return the land to
you. I can't express the amount of my happiness right now,"
Sheikh Hasina said in an emotion-charged voice while handing over
the papers of the land at Gonobhaban this evening.
All at once, the Prime minister became emotional and soon
hugged elderly Ramiza Khatun for sometimes and said she would
build a house and a farm with pets like cows, ducks and hens for
Ramiza Khatun on the land.
Sheikh Hasina, widely acclaimed for her rare human qualities,
especially for the downtrodden, told Ramiza, "you've nothing to
worry as I have taken all of your responsibilities from now on."
In reply, Ramiza Khatun said, "you're my mother and I have no
more expectation in life."
The conversation between Sheikh Hasina and Ramiza Khatun
continued for a few minutes while hugging each other. Later in
her reaction, the Prime Minister said, "love of common people is
my asset. Their love is my power. All my relatives were killed in
1975."
As Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,
also the father of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, worked
throughout his life for the peoples' welfare, she called upon her
party leaders and workers to dedicate themselves to the service
to the humanity.
She said, "you can't win the people's heart unless you serve
the humanity at all levels." She asked them to shun the path of
gaining anything, rather devote their political mission to the
welfare of all people.
Industries Minister Dilip Barua, AL Presidium Member Kazi
Jafrullah, Ambassador at Large M Ziauddin, Prime Minister's Press
Secretary Abul Kalam Azad and BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Pran
Gopal were present on the occasion.
