Awami League has chalked out four-day programmes to observe National Mourning day Aug 15, and Aug 21 grenade attack day July 18,2010 Awami League President Sheikh Hasina in exercise of her power elected chairmen of 11 subcommittees out of 19 at Friday’s central working committee meeting.
According to the party constitution, secretaries of the concerned departments will act as secretaries to these sub-committees. The party president will nominate assistant secretaries and members of the sub-committees. The central working committee decided to mobilize public opinion against the war criminals and strengthen the grand alliance to frustrate their all conspiracies. The meeting decided to amend the constitution in the light of the Supreme Court judgment. The meeting also decided to expedite the current party membership drive. The central working committee will soon announce schedules for councils of the party’s organizational committees from the grass root to district levels

Bangladesh Awami League (AL) chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the National Mourning
Day and in memory of the martyrs of August 21 grenade attack on a
party rally in 2004.
The Awami League Central Working Committee (ALCWC) in a
meeting at party's Dhanmondi office with party president and
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair finalized the
programmes.
After the meeting, General Secretary of the party Syed
Ashraful Islam briefed the reporters on the four-day programmes.
As part of the programmes, ALCWC, advisory committee and
cabinet members will visit Tungipara on August 15 to place floral
wreaths at the mazar of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman.
In the dawn, national flag and party flag would be kept
half-mast at Bangabandhu Bhaban, and party offices across the
country while black flag will be hoisted.
In Dhaka, Dhaka City Awami League and front organizations
will place floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at
Bangabandhu Bhaban. Party leaders will offer prayers, milad
mahfil at Bangabandhu Bhaban and Banani graveyard.
Special prayers will be offered in all mosques after Asr
prayers while similar prayers will be arranged in other places of
worships.
On August 16, a discussion will be held at Bangabandhu
International Conference Center where Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina will attend it as the chief guest.
Presidium member and Deputy Leader of the House Syeda Sajeda
Chowdhury will preside over the meeting while senior party leader
will speak.
All party wings and front organizations were asked to
observe the days in a befitting manner.
Syed Ashraf said two-day programme has been taken in memory
of the martyrs of August 21 grenade attack.
Wreaths will be placed at the temporary martyrs alter in
front of AL Central Office at 23 Bangabandhu Avenue at 11 am on
August 21.
While two-minute silence will be observed there at
5.22 pm.
Besides, two-minute silence will be observed at all the
party offices across the country at the same time.
Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina will meet and
participate Iftar party in the evening at Gonobhaban with the
members of the families of the martyrs and injured people of
August 21 grange attack incident.
Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina will address at
a discussion at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at
3.00 pm on August 22 as the chief guest.
AL Presidium Member and Deputy Leader of the House Syeda
Sajeda Chowdhury will preside.
National leaders and intellectuals will take part in the
discussion.
Besides, Awami League and front organizations will observe
all the programmes across the country.
