| Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expresses satisfaction about Bangabandhu murder case verdict |

November 19,2009 Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah by offering nafal prayers after hearing the verdict of the Bangabandhu murder case which was pronounced by the Supreme Court this morning. Returning home from Rome this morning after attending the World Summit on Food Security-2009 in the Italian capital, she went to her official residence Jamuna first and recited from the holy Quran. Later, she expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah by offering nafal prayers after hearing the verdict of the Bangabandhu murder case in which the apex court upheld death penalties of all the five of the condemned convicts, who are now in jail rejecting their leave to appeal prayers. Sheikh Hasina, also President of Bangladesh Awami League, talked to her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul and younger sister Sheikh Rehana who are now abroad, over telephone. Later, cabinet members and members of the advisory committee, presidium and central leaders of Awami League and its associate organisations met the prime minister at Jamuna. They included Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Amir Hossain Amu, Suranjit Sengupta, Abdur Razzak, Abdul Latif Siddiqui, Syed Ashraful Islam and Chief Whip Abdus Shahid. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members were brutally killed by some ambitious army officers on August 15, 1975. Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana, daughters of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, survived the August 15 massacre as they were abroad at that time. |
