Karwan Bazar Mayhem
Hawa Bhaban Agent Police Officer killed at least 2

At least two blockade supporters were murdered Monday around mid day after a police van sped through activists of the 14-party alliance in Karwan Bazaar.

About 130 people were injured in the Karwan Bazaar mayhem on the second day of blockade enforced by Awami League and its allies.

According to eye witnesses, Deputy commissioner of Police Kohinoor Mian- widely controversial for representing Hawa Bhaban, Giasuddin Rimon, Asst. Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police who had been a former activist of DU JCD, student wing of BNP, Qamrul Islam & Mahbubur Rahman officer-in-charge of Tejgaon and Ramna police station  undertook this merciless mission to annihilate supporters of the peaceful blockade that is now clamped throughout the country for the second day.

Witness told that, the police discriminately lobbed tear gas and jetted hot water on people. Finding no other alternative, innocent people took shelter on the main road which made them an easy target.

Seconds after, a Police van really appeared roaring with high speed and drove through the activists and disappeared leaving behind two people dead and a large number of wounded.

It is crystal clear that the ploy ventured by police to kill so many innocent people is nothing but the execution of plan mooted in Hawa Bhaban.

This killing is reminiscent of the 1983 killings of Dhaka University students in similar fashion.

On Feb 14, two leading student activists of Awami League - Selim and Delwar were killed when a police truck ran over them.
