No-Confidence Human Wall in different districts Tangail: Awami League and 13 other opposition political parties formed a 76-km long human wall from Garai under Mirzapur thana to Bongobondhu Bridge covering four upazilas in Tangail district yesterday. People from all walks of life spontaneously took part in the demonstration in the district. Awami League organizing secretary Saber Hossain Chowdhury, central leader Abdur Razzak MP, Abdul Latif Siddiqui and Workers Party leader Hazera Sultana and district AL president Shamsur Rahman and general secretary Fazlur Rahman supervised and led the demonstration programmer here. Carrying banners, festoons and placards, hundreds of activists of Awami League from adjoining districts of Jamalpur, Mymensingh and Sherpur also participated in the demonstration. The Bongobondhu Bridge was kept out of the purview of the program as it is a KPI (key public installation) site. Khulna: To express solidarity with the combined opposition's Teknaf-Tetulia human wall program yesterday, local units of Awami League and other opposition parties formed a token human chain in the heart of the city last afternoon to express no-confidence in the BNP-led alliance government. The human chain formed by the leaders and activists of the opposition parties along Khan A Sabur Road from near Awami League office to the Picture Palace crossing was of an hour's duration from 3 pm to 4 pm. A number of local leaders of Awami League and other opposition parties addressed the gathering at the scene, expressing their determination to continue the movement to oust the present corrupt, oppressive, incompetent and anti-people government. Among the speakers were Shaikh Harun-ur-Rashid, S M Mostafa Rashidi Suja, Alhaj Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Babul Rana, advocate Saiful Islam, advocate Anisur Rahman Paplu, Kamruzzaman Jamal, Jahangir Alam Sabuj and H M Shahdat. The action program of the opposition passed off without any untoward incident. Dinajpur: The cross-country protest program dubbed human wall by 14 like-minded opposition political parties led by Awami League ended here peacefully. Leaders of the 14-party combine were seen on different points organizing the human wall. Awami League presidium member Kazi Zafarullah MP, Mahbubur Rahman, MP, presidium member of CPB Shahidullah Chowdhury and Nazmul Huq Prodhan of JSD were at Tentulia under Panchagarh. Awami League presidium member Begum Matia Chowdhury, former MP Shaheen Monwara Huq, local district AL leaders, Serajul Huq of CPB, Rajiur Rahman of JSD and Advocate Amjad Hossain of NAP were present at Thakurgaon intersection. Narayanganj: The human wall on Dhaka-Chittagong highway from Matuail to Meghnaghat was formed by thousands of people. Local leaders of the opposition parties alleged that police obstructed their supporters from joining the programme at Sonargaon. Comilla: Hundreds of people gathered at different points on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway from Daudkandi to Chouddagram from noon and stayed till the end of the demonstration. Nilphamari: central Awami League leader Asaduzzaman Noor MP led the program in the district, joined by hundreds of people carrying banners and placards with anti-government slogans. A large number of opposition leaders and activists from Rangpur and adjoining Lalmonirhat and Kurigram districts participated in it. |
