With the help of the dynamic leadership of Sheikh Hasina, rich in the spirit and values of the liberation, Bangladesh has achieved a bright image in the world with its coordinated, effective and coherent foreign policy.

Social Safety Net: Leading towards a poverty free Bangladesh


A well constructed social safety net is an integral tool for reducing the economic and social plight of the marginalized people of a nation. Father of the nation, Bangabandhu Shekh Mujibur Rahman took the very first effort to eradicate the sufferings of mass people by starting Social Safety Network Program. He was the first who initiated distribution of ration, relief and selling consumer goods in open market program. Since then Bangladesh Awami League is walking on the path of Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. When Bangladesh Awami League first formed government at 1996, they were the first to start projects like elderly allowance, widow allowance, vulnerable allowance and allowance for handicapped and helpless. Continuing this trend, Awami League led government of Bangladesh is constantly increasing the number of beneficiaries under its social safety net programs.


The independent survey by Democracy International shows that, Awami League is the most popular party of Bangladesh and the popularity of Awami League is on the rise.
