"BNP and Jamaat are resorting to repression and torture on the people in the name of movement. So, you will have to put up resistance against those who are out to keep people without food by creating anarchy and terrorism and killing them by hurling bombs," PM Sheikh Hasina said this while addressing a mammoth public rally organized by Rajbari District Awami League at Pangsha University CollegeGround last afternoon.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today laid the foundation stone of the country's first-ever metro rail project, opening up a new era in the country's communication system. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the much- hyped metro rail project titled "The MRT Line-6 under the Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Development Project" from Bhawal Badre Alam University College Ground here this afternoon. The 20.1-kilometer Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6 will run from Uttara Third Phase and pass through Pallabi, the west side of Rokeya Sarani and Farmgate, Hotel Sonargaon, Ruposhi Bangla, TSC of Dhaka University, Doel Chattar, Topkhana Road and Bangladesh Bank.
"As the head of the government I have given the air force as much as possible according to my capabilities. I will do everything necessary for building a modern air force in future Insha Allah," Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this while addressing a "darbar" of the members of Bangladesh Air Force at BAF Base Bashar in Dhaka Cantonment here this morning.
"Our manpower including engineers and officers will have to be given scope for work with foreign firms so that they could gather experiences and prepare themselves through work. I would like to tell the authorities concerned to strengthen the Bapex further and train up its manpower so that we could ourselves explore gas and oil," Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this while while inaugurating the Bapex Bhaban at Karwan Bazar and laying the foundation stone of the Gas Transmission Company Ltd (GTCL) Bhaban at Sher-e- Bangla Nagar in the capital this morning.
The government is going to prepare a National Population Register (NPR) to create a comprehensive database with full identification and other details of every sector and person. The cabinet in its regular meeting today has approved a planning document in this regard titled 'National Strategy for the Development of Statistics'.
A meeting of the Awami League Parliamentary Board (ALPB) was held at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Ganobhaban last night.
Prime Minister and ALPB President Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting.
ALPB members Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Obaidul Quader, Kazi Zafarullah, Syed Ashraful Islam and Dr Alauddin Ahmed were present at the meeting, among others.
