Syed Ashraf Called Upon The Party Leaders And Workers To Remain Alert

General Secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League and LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam today called upon his party leaders and workers to remain alert as there is a conspiracy going on against the government.

"Remain alert round the clock. There will not be repetition of painful incident of the August 15 carnage if you remain alert. The conspirators have no alternative left to unseat Sheikh Hasina through election. But a vested quarter has been hatching conspiracy to unseat the government through illegal way. If you remain alert, their design will backfire," he said.

Syed Ashraful Islam made this appeal to the party workers while speaking at a discussion in the city. As part of its day- long programme, Awami League (AL) organised the discussion at the auditorium of the Institution of Engineers marking the Six- point
Day.

Awami League presidium member and Deputy Leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury chaired the discussion, also addressed, among others, by party presidium member Advocate Sahara Khatun, joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, organising secretary Ahmed Hossain, acting president of Dhaka City AL MA Aziz, general secretary and Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram) and joint secretary and Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam.

In reply to criticism of different quarters on the proposed national budget, Syed Ashraful Islam said, "Budget is the economic philosophy of a political government. It's not an arithmetic balance sheet. Those don't believe in our philosophy wouldn't support it. It would not be our problem."

The AL general secretary said, "Many persons floated their organisations here (Bangladesh) with foreign financing. It's a reality that they will join in chorus for the foreigners. In the real sense of the term, they have no patriotism. They neither understand politics nor the economy. They understand only the way how to mislead the people."

Turning to the criticism of the leaders of different political parties on the budget, the LGRD Minister said, "If you don't like or support the proposed budget or if you want any change and alteration then you can come up with your suggestions with the Finance Minister, if you have any. Please suggest any alternative proposal in this regard what you like."
