Awami League General Secretary and Public Administration Minister today called for building the student and youth communities with the spirit of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as if they would not stay on the right track, the country's future will grow dark.
"We have to walk in the path showed by Bangabandhu. If we can inspire the youths with the ideology of Bangabandhu, they must awaken to take the country ahead towards a prosperous country," he said while addressing a discussion marking the 40th death anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium here.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu, former state minister for housing and public works Abdul Mannan Khan, Dhaka Zila Parishad administrator Hasina Doula addressed the discussion, organised by Dhaka district unit of Awami League, as the special guests while Awami League organising secretary Ahmad Hossain spoke as the chief discussant.
Syed Ashraful Islam said youths and juveniles had a huge contribution to the Awami League's landslide victory in 1970 election.
"The then people believe in youths and they paid much heed to the talks of young generation. But in the present context, I have doubt that whether people have confidence in Chhatra League or not," he said.
Speaking on the occasion Ahmad Hossain said if Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina did not return to the country and form the government, trial of killers of August 15 and war criminals of 1971 would not be possible.
"As the trial of killers of 1971 and 1975 were held during the current government tenure, in the same way trail of perpetrators of August 21, 2004 will be held," he added.
