Awami League (AL) General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam today called upon the Krishak League leaders and activists to work for establishing unity among the grassroots level farmers across the country.

"To establish unity among the farmers across the country will be your (Krishak League leaders) prime work and if you can do this, Awami League will be stronger", said Syed Ashraful Islam who is also the Public Administration Minister.

The minister came up with this call while he was addressing as the chief guest at a discussion organized by the Krishak League at the auditorium of the National Press Club here.

With Krishak League President Motahar Hossen Molla in the chair, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam, AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Organizing Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, AL Health and Population Affairs Secretary Dr Badiuzzaman Bhuiyan Dablu and Krishak League General Secretary Advocte Shamsul Haq Reza.

"Most of the rural people are farmers and we have to go there to establish unity among them and if we can do that Awami League will be ever stronger", said Syed Ashraf.

Terming both the Krishibid (Agriculturists) and farmers as legends, the veteran ruling party leader said "we have to organize Krishak League all over the country in order to communicate with the farmers. Alongside we have to strengthen all other organizations associated with ruling party to make the party stronger", he added.

Referring to the observance of the 40-day programme from August 1 marking the National Mourning Day, the ruling party leader said our main objective was to make Bangabandhu for all instead of keeping the great leader solely as the property of the Awami League, said Syed Ashraf.
