Awami League's General Secretary and Minister for Public Administration Syed Ashraf today said AL-backed panel won the Bangladesh Bar Council election this time for the unity of lawyers.
"Awami League-backed lawyers' panel won a landslide victory in the Bangladesh Bar Council elections, defeating the BNP-Jamaat supported panel because of the unity of lawyers," he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion marking the National Mourning Day at Bnangabandhu Avenue organised by Mahila Sramik League.
Mahila Sramik League president Rawshan Jahan Sathi presided over the programme while AL Organizing Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, MP, Labor Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj and State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki spoke.
Ashraf said the AL-backed panel could not win the last two bar council elections as there was no unity among the pro-AL lawyers but this time their unity led them to victory.
