Khaleda gets five years to correct mistakes: Nasim


Awami League Presidium Member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said here today that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia would have to wait for five years to go power as she made a great mistake by boycotting the January 5 national elections.

"BNP would have to wait till the next election as the people of the country gave AL a mandate for five years to run the country ," he said as the chief guest at a foundation stone laying ceremony of upgrading Kazipur Upazila Health Complex from 30 beds to 50 beds here.

The minister advised Khaleda Zia to shun the politics of vengeance and take preparation for the next parliamentary polls by reorganizing her party.

Describing Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina as the architect of balanced development, he said, "AL means development while BNP stands for loot , killings and terrorism and hence the people of the country voted AL to power once again by boycotting BNP."

"The world welcomed the January 5 national election as it was held in accordance with the constitution. Heads of states and governments of different countries have already recognized the government and promised to work with it, " Nasim said .

Sirajganj district civil surgeon Dr Mainuddin Mia presided over the function. Among others Director General of Health Engineering Directorate Brig Gen Ahmedul Kabir, Sirajganj district AL President Mostafizur Rahman, Kazipur Upazila Chairman Mozammel Huq Sarker Bakul, Upazila AL President Shawkat Ali were present at the function held at Kazipur Upazila Health Complex.

Nasim also spoke at the meeting of the local law and order committee with Deputy Commissioner of Sirajganj Billal Hossain in the chair. Among others, Sirajganj-2 lawmaker Dr Habibe Millat Munna and Sirajganj-5 lawmaker Hasibur Rahman Swapon were present at the function.
