Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed yesterday hoped price, supply chain and stock of essential commodities would be normal not only in the month of Ramadan rather round the year.
“Adequate stock of essential commodities is in the country now while the import pipeline is also in good position. The government will try to ensure supply chain and control the price in line with the demand, as the businessmen has assured the government to provide all kind of assistances to this end,” he said, reports BSS. The minister made his anticipation while exchanging views with the businessmen and leaders of the trade bodies on supply, price and stock of the essential commodities ahead of the month of Ramadan at the ministry conference room.
Tofail said the government will take effective measures to hold the price and supply chain maintaining a strong coordination with the businessmen.
He informed the government will sell sugar, edible oil, dates, pulse and gram through state-owned Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) during the month of Ramadan like previous year. “TCB has already taken necessary preparation to meet the demand of consumers.”
Businessmen and leaders of trade bodies have assured the commerce minister to extend their cooperation to maintain the normal supply chain and keep the price under control.
FBCCI President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed said the businessmen will provide all kind of assistance to the government so that it could able to supply essential commodities with affordable price to the consumers.
