Zia gave 'green signal' to Bangabandhu's killers: Shajahan Khan


Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan today said Zia had given the "green signal" to the killers of Bangabandhu and that is why they were rewarded with diplomatic postings during his tenure.

The minister said this while inaugurating the floating restaurant, MV Sonargaon Water Club, on the Buriganga River near Dhaka's Shyampur eco-park as the chief guest.

Lawmakers Hossain Babla and Advocate Sanjida Khanam and BIWTC Chairman Mujibur Rahman, among others, addressed the inaugural
function with CEO of Sonargaon Tourism Sanjoy Kumar Roy in the chair.

Shajahan Khan said BNP founded by a sinner is an evil one.

He said after Liberation Bangabandhu's government had purchased two dredgers but subsequent governments had totally neglected the sector. On the contrary, the current administration of Sheikh Hasina had so far bought 22 dredgers, he added.

The minister said the government had turned around a losing port like Mongla and made it profitable, earning seven-lakh taka, daily.

Referring to the floating restaurant, he said, it would give an opportunity for locals to have quality food and also provide entertainment. Besides, foreigners will also be attracted to it, he added.
