Former AL lawmaker Abdul Mannan Sarder passes away

Abdul Mannan Sarder, former lawmaker and vice-president of Dhaka City Awami League (AL), died of old-age complications in city's Khidmah Hospital at 2 pm today.

He was 87.

He left behind wife, three sons, a daughter and a host of relatives and well- wishers to mourn his death.

He used to live at G/22 Malibagh Chowdhury Para in the capital, said Dhaka city AL organizing secretary Shahidul Islam Milon.

The first Namaz-e-Janaza of the deceased will be held at Malibagh Bazar Mosque after Magrib prayers while the second one at Mugda Baro Mosque after Esha prayers.

Later, he will be buried at his family graveyard at Mugda. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock at the death of Abdul Mannan.

In a message of condolence, the Prime Minister said Mannan Sardar, an ardent follower of Bangabandhu, will be remembered by the nation forever for his valiant role in organizing the Liberation War.

Mannan Sardar also played a very praiseworthy role in organizing Dhaka city unit of Awami League, Sheikh Hasina, also the President of Awami League, said.

She prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
