Govt working to vaccinate 80% population of Bangladesh against COVID-19

The Government of Hon. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working to vaccinate 80% population of Bangladesh against Covid-19 by the end of next year.

To that end, here are some important facts regarding the mass vaccination programme (updated till evening of 15 July 2021):

a) 10.2 million+ people have registered for getting vaccinated;

b) 10.9 million+ people have been vaccinated;

c) Of the number of people mentioned in (b), 10.1 million+ received Astrazeneca shots; 653,808 received the Sinopharm vaccine; 112,571 received the Moderna jab and 46,981 received the Pfizer shot;

d) Among those vaccinated, the first shot has been administered to 6.6 million+ people; of whom 4 million+ recipients are male while 2.5 million+ are female.

e) Among those vaccinated, the second shot has been administered to 4.2 million+ people; of whom 2.7 million recipients are male while 1.5 million+ are female.

Bangladesh will receive 20 million+ doses of Covid vaccines from a number of countries and via Covax by next month. When India imposed restrictions on export of vaccines, we did face a temporary setback. However, due to the constant diplomatic efforts of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Government, our country has been able to overcome the temporary crisis by managing Covid vaccines from a number of sources.
