Bangladesh has made extraordinary progress in achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals. For the last 5 years, Bangladesh Awami League-led government has put relentless efforts to attain the said targets. Recently Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been conferred a memento by UNESCO for her contribution in girls and women’s education.

Bangladesh has managed to achieve the attention of the world as it has achieved exemplary success in achieving Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) 4 and 5 (reducing child and maternal mortality) well before the target years and for being on track to achieve other goals like MDG 6 which is combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases.

Bangladesh Rapidly Overcoming Curse Of Poverty

According to the latest data released by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, Bangladesh has made remarkable progress in the last decade or so, in particular in the last five years, in reducing poverty and extreme poverty.
