Finance Minister AMA Muhith said Monday that necessary funds would be allocated in the next budget for the welfare of the country's disabled people, with a view to facilitating their education and training.

 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today sought support of Japan for building a knowledge-based society, development of human resources and undertaking massive infrastructural developments.

 

Japan has expressed its commitment to providing up to 600 billion yen of assistance to Bangladesh from this year by fully taking into account the proper and smooth implementation of projects.

 

Recognizing the long-standing relations between the two countries based on shared values of peace, democracy, human rights and rule of law, Bangladesh and Japan today affirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation by elevating the friendly relationship to a new partnership.

 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today had an audience with Japanese Emperor Akihito at Imperial Palace here this afternoon and invited him to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time.

 

Bangladesh has been awarded to contribute in peacekeeping around the world through United Nations Peacekeeping Mission. United Nations Association (USA) and Better World Campaign have given the award.
