"People didn't respond to their hartal. So, BNP has made common people hostage and is killing them by carrying out secret attacks, burning them alive and setting fire to public transports," she said. "BNP through its barbaric attitude has proved that they are no more humans," the Prime Minister said while addressing a huge public meeting at Khan Jahan AliDegree College Ground here today.

 

"Begum Zia has become stubborn that she will in no way participate in the upcoming polls as there is no scope for capturing power and vote rigging," Prime minister Sheikh Hasina said this while she was addressing a mammoth rally in kotalipara today. Mentioning that Awami League does not believe in vote rigging, she said vote belongs to people and "we have established democracy and ensured that public representatives would be elected through ballot."

 

Bangladesh, starving for less than 4,000 megawatt electricity only five years back, today celebrated touching the milestone of power generation capacity of 10,000-MW with a grand and cheerful elation. The celebration was launched this evening with a spectacular fireworks and laser show at picturesque Hatirjheel Lake, enjoyed by thousands of people. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina switched on the celebration titled Alok Utsob (Light Festival) from Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) along with inauguration of the Jatiya Biddyut Saptaha-2013.

 

Expressing her deep annoyance over frequent hartal , Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that "BNP believes in politics of destruction. They don't know the language of peace, they are familiar with the politics of weapons . . . BNP is only qualified for corruption and murder,’’ The premier said this while she was addressing a huge public meeting organized by Khagrachari district unit of Awami League at Khagrachari Stadium here today after inaugurating a number of development projects and laying foundations of some new ones.

 

"I cannot tolerate the sufferings of the people. I want peace and development of the people, not the prime ministership," The Prime Minister said BNP and Jamaat cadres are now burning the people to death in the name of hartal. "Believe me, I feel so much pain, when I see the way the people is being burnt by the BNP-Jamaat cadres. It seems at that time I don't need the prime ministership," she said. Sheikh Hasina said this while addressing the national conference of khatibs and best trained imams at Bangabandhu international conference centre here this morning.

 

"BNP was born from the pocket of a military dictator who grabbed power through coup and plot and violating the constitution. That's why the party does not understand the language of democracy, what it understands well is killing people by torturing and burning, "When the BNP comes to power, they cannot change the lot of the people, they only know looting the property of the people," Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this while addressing a mammoth public rally organized by Barolekha Upazila Awami League at Barolekha Degree College Ground here this afternoon.
