Second part of Bangabandhu’s autobiography launched

 

Bangla Academy handed over its latest publication, the second autobiography of Father of the Nation Bangabdnu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina coinciding with his 98th birthday on March 17.

"The 332 page publication -- Karagarer Rojnamcha -- is set to be launched on March 17," a Bangla academy official told BSS adding the book where Bangabandhu particularly described events and experiences of his imprisonment from 1966 to 1968.

Bangla Academy's Director General Shamsuzzanan Khan handed over the copies of the book to the premier and Bangabandhu's younger daughter Sheikh Rehana at Gonobhaban on Wednesday afternoon.

Speaking on the occasion the Prime Minister said the then Pakistan government seized two dairies written by Bangabandhu when he was released in December 1969.

"However one of the diaries was recovered with the help of the Special Branch after her Awami League government came to power in 2009," she said.

The premier said the autobiography of Bangabandhu on his China visit and Agartala Conspiracy Case was expected to be published soon. She thanked Bangla Academy for publishing the book.

Khan said "Karagarer Rojnamcha" would be formally published on March 17 next and then the book will available in Bangla Academy book stalls.

Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, state minister for women and children affairs Meher Afroj Chumki, state minister for health Zahid Maleque, Professor Fhakrul Alam and principal secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury and PM's press secretary Ihsanul Karim were present as the copies of the books were presented.
