Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday called upon all pro-liberation forces to forge a greater unity across the country for building a secular Bangladesh as dreamt by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 'The country now requires a greater unity among all pro-liberation forces against those who opposed the country's independence and sovereignty in 1971,' she told a party discussion meeting organized on the occasion of the National Mourning Day.
Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam has ruled out any possibility to sit in a dialogue the main opposition BNP. Syed Ashraf, who is also the LGRD and Cooperatives Minister, said, there can be no compromise with those who celebrate fake birthday on the death anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam has said he is sensing that the Awami League will return to power and is preparing for the next polls accordingly. "I don't have any information, but as a politician I can smell that Awami League will return to power through the next general election," he told an iftar party. He further said, the next general elections would be held in time and all political parties including the BNP would take part in that election. Ashraf said they have started preparing for the national election and they will be out on the field with spirited programmes after the Eid-ul-Fitr.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called upon the people to cast vote for Awami League in the next polls in the interest of the development of the country. "Make the Awami League victorious in the next election as the country witnesses massive development and the people get something when the party assumes office. But when other parties go to power, they loot everything by depriving the people," she said.
The 64th birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be observed today.Born on August 5, 1949, at Tungipara in Gopalganj, Sheikh Kamal was the founder-president of the country's leading sporting club Abahani Krira Chakra and founder-member of Dhaka Theatre.Awami League and its associate bodies have drawn up elaborate programmes to celebrate his birth anniversary.
