Bangladesh as a republic country suffered outrage of the military backed interim government in the year of 2007 to 2008. Democratic practices were hampered severely by their plan to tear down the legacy of the pro-liberation force in the country. But their efforts were largely failed, as people of the country gave their verdict through participating in the 9th National Election.
Awami League swept a solid majority in the parliament by winning 230 seats out of 299 constituencies.
Once again peace emerged in the streets of Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina formed her government and immediately concentrated on the people’s issues. The government was able to tackle the world depression exquisitely and moved forward with a
steady 6% growth of the economy. At the early phase, government’s agriculture policy reformation amplified into a bumper harvest, reducing dependency from the imports. Bangladesh also achieved MDG-1 before time, eradication of terrorism and Islamic fundamentalism from the country, reduced corruption, increased electricity production, winning ocean landmark, digitalization of the country etc. However, the most significant achievements for the government were to implement punishment of the killers of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and starting the judicial trial of the war criminals.
Awami League has always been concerned of the progress of the country. The root of the party belongs to the greatest Bengali for million years, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his visions. Despite of several attempts to demolish the existence of such legacy, Sheikh Hashina, the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman continued towards achieving golden Bangladesh.
