Bangladesh government to open 3 more diplomatic missions

With an aim to expand the country’s export to the European market, all of them are expected to begin diplomatic activities within the next couple of month.
The opening of three more missions, will take the total number of missions to 71 in 55 countries.
In addition, the Awami League government has also decided to set up new embassies to Afghanistan, Sudan and Sierra Leone.
Last year, five embassies were opened in Mexico, Brazil, Lebanon, Mauritius and Portugal, and a deputy high commission in Mumbai, India.
The move to open more diplomatic missions would serve the growing number of expatriate Bangladeshis, increase export and trade and establish political link with countries around the globe.
According to official figure, seven million Bangladeshis were living abroad and remit around $15 billion per year.
A number of missions, including those in the Middle Eastern countries, Malaysia, USA, UK, Italy and Singapore, has been earning a good amount of revenue and sending foreign currencies to the country by providing consular services to people.
