Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reiterated her government's firm stand for coal-based power plant at Rampal, 65 kilometers away from mangrove forest Sundarbans, saying the power plant would not cause any harm to the world heritage famous for home of Royal Bengal Tigers and rich biodiversity.
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved five development projects including land acquisition, rehabilitation and environmental impact measurement project for establishing 300-400 MW Supercritical Coal Based Power Plant in Gazaria and Sadar upazila of Munshiganj, with an outlay of Taka 987.80 crore.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina assured members of the Hindu community that steps would be taken to enact a succession law for them so genuine heirs get their property.
The cabinet in principle approved the draft of "The Digital Security Law, 2016" keeping a provision for highest life-term imprisonment and Taka one crore fine for carrying out propaganda against the War of Liberation and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman or patronising the propaganda through electronic medium.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said she is not afraid of death and never bows to anybody except Allah. "I offer "sijdah" to only Allah and bow to the Almighty, nothing else ... I am the daughter of the Father of the Nation. I won't die before death," she said.
