Poll Reflects Strong Support For Current Government after Six Months: Downright Rejection Of BNP’s Call For Agitation

75% of the respondents surveyed were satisfied with the current government’s first 6 months of tenure. A significant majority, around 70% of the respondents, felt that the country is headed in the right direction. A majority, 53%, of the respondents voiced their support for the current government to complete their 5 year tenure.

Nearly two-thirds of the respondents opined that the government has been successful in controlling the law and order situation of the country. Nearly half the respondents surveyed were of the opinion that infrastructure development has been the current government’s biggest success in the first 6 months since assuming responsibility in January 2014. An overwhelming majority of respondents, nearly 78%, expressed their objection to any forthcoming agitation movement by the opposition party BNP.

Dhaka Tribune reported that the poll was conducted by a reputable polling company on their behalf between 10th and 22nd of August and involved telephone interviews with a total of 1217 respondents selected on the basis of multi-stage sampling. They further reported that the data collected was quantitative and came with a 3% margin of error.
