"We must establish connectivity to further increase bilateral trade and business," she said, adding that the infrastructure is now ready on both sides and there is a need for transit thru India to establish this connectivity.
The Prime Minister said this when Bhutanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Pema Choden paid a courtesy call on her at her office here this morning.
After the meeting, PM's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhuri briefed reporters.
The Prime Minister once again said that Bhutan could use Bangladesh's sea and airports for the purpose of trade and business.
She called upon the Bhutanese government to import vegetables from Bangladesh to meet their domestic demand.
In this connection, she mentioned that Bhutan imports Bangladeshi readymade garments at a larger volume every year.
Sheikh Hasina recalled invaluable contribution of the Bhutanese King and their people to Bangladesh's War of Liberation.
The Bhutanese ambassador apprised Sheikh Hasina of the visit of the Bhutanese Prime Minister to Bangladesh which is going to take place in the first week of December.
She also conveyed the Bhutanese King and the Premier's greetings to the Bangladesh Prime Minister.
The Bhutanese envoy highly appreciated Bangladesh's tremendous achievement in millennium development goals (MDGs) and SAARC Charter.
Highly praising Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's dynamic and visionary leadership, she mentioned that a massive socioeconomic and infrastructural development has been made in Bangladesh in the last couple of years under her leadership.
PM's Principal Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikdar and Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhuri were present at the meeting.
