Bangladesh received two mobile oxygen plants, each with a capacity of generating 960 litres of oxygen per minute, from India on Thursday to support the effort to fight the Covid-19 situation.
Indian Navy handed over the oxygen plants developed and manufactured by DRDO in India, to Bangladesh Navy at Chattogram Port at about 10:00am.
One oxygen plant will be set up at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and the other plant is for the Bangladesh Navy, to be set up at BNS Patenga, according to officials.
Commanding officer of Navy Hospital at BNS Patenga M Mahbubur Rahman and Chattogram divisional health director Hasan Shahriar Kabir received the documents from INS SAVITRI commanding officer N Roby Singho.
Earlier in the morning, Indian Navy Offshore Patrol Vessel, INS SAVITRI, arrived at Chattogram Port carrying the oxygen plants.
These fully equipped mobile oxygen plants can also be used for refilling oxygen cylinders as well, said officials.
