Awami League pays tribute to Bangabandhu

The ruling Awami League and its associate bodies paid deep homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the city marking the Martyred Intellectuals Day.

At about 9 in the morning, Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu there in observance of the Martyred Intellectuals Day.

After placing wreath, she stood there in solemn silence as a mark of respect and honour to the indomitable leader when last post was played on the bugle.

Later, Sheikh Hasina as the president of the ruling party along with party stalwarts placed another wreath at Bangabandhu's portrait there.

Awami League presidium members Begum Matia Chowdhury and Obaidul Quader, joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Liberation War affairs secretary AKM Mozammel Haque, law affairs secretary Advocate Abdul Matin Khosru, health affairs secretary Dr Badiuzzaman Bhuiyan Dublew, state minister for jute and textiles Mirza Azam, office secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, deputy publicity secretary Asim Kumar Ukil and AL Central Working Committee members SM Kamal Hossain and Sujit Roy Nandi were present, among others.

As soon as Sheikh Hasina left the area, leaders and workers of Dhaka City AL, Awami Juba League, Awami Swechchasebak League, Krishak League, Jatiya Sramik League, Chhatra League, Tanti League and other associate and likeminded bodies and cultural-professional bodies placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu marking the day.
