Syed Ashraf was speaking at a program in the capital to mark the National Mourning Day on Saturday. Pointing fingers at BNP chief Khaleda Zia, Ashraf said, "It's unthinkable in a civilized society. She herself does not know her real birthday and she has deliberately picked August 15 for her amusement."
Addressing the meeting, AL advisory council member Amir Hossain Amu alleged that BNP was hatching a conspiracy to turn the country into a failed state by waging so-called movement for a non-party caretaker government.
Deputy Leader of Jatiya Sangsad Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Minister without portfolio Suranjit Sengupta, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Jute and Textiles Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui, presidium members Mohammad Nasim, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, MP, Dhaka University Vice chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique were present at the programme.
