After laying the wreath, the Prime Minister stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of
independence.
Ministers, advisers to the Prime Minister, state ministers and deputy ministers of the newly formed government were present on the occasion.
Flanked by ministers and senior leaders of the party, Sheikh Hasina, also the president of Bangladesh Awami League, placed another wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu on behalf of her party.
Sheikh Rehana, the younger daughter of Bangabandhu, was also present on the occasion.
The 49-member cabinet led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was sworn in on Sunday at a gala ceremony at Bangabhaban.
President Abdul Hamid administered the oath to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 29 ministers, 17 state ministers and two deputy ministers.
