PM spends unique afternoon with artists, players, civil & military officials

The grassy lawn of Ganabhaban resonated with the presence of the huge number of distinguished guests this afternoon.

Sheikh Hasina, also the elder daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, talked to them and enquired about their wellbeing by going around the lawn of Ganobhaban.

She spent a few memorable moments with the artists, players,high civil, military and police officials by gossiping with them and enjoying patriotic and folk songs and recitation of poems.

The physically-challenged children, who won a number of medals in the Special Olympics last year, joined the nearly two-hour programme.

Besides the singers and poets, officials of Prime Minister's Office, Bangladesh Army, Special Security Force (SSF), Bangladesh Police and Ansar and VDP enthralled the audience by performing songs and reciting poems on a decorated dais set up on the southeastern corner of Ganobhaban.

Accompanied by the guests, Sheikh Hasina enjoyed some beautiful songs and poems sitting on the chair in front of the dais.

University Grants Commission Chairman Professor Dr AK Azad Chowdhury, Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hussain Bhuiyan, Chief of Army Staff General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan, Chief of Naval Staff Vice-Admiral M Farid Habib, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Inamul Bari, Principal Secretary Shaikh Md Wahid Uz Zaman, IGP Hasan Mahmud Khandakar, senior secretaries including Abdus Sobhan Sikdar, Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh Major General Aziz Ahmed, Director General of RAB Mokhlesur Rahman, Military Secretary to the Prime Minister Major General Mia Muhammad Joynul Abedin and SSF Director General Major General Sheikh Aman Hassan attended the programme, among others.

Besides, noted artist Qaiyum Chowdhury, President of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Kazi Salahuddin, Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan Papon, MP, former BFF general secretary Harun-or-Rashid, former national cricket team captains Raqibul Hasan, Akram Khan, Minhazul Abedin Nannu and Naimur Rahman Durjoy, former national footballers Badal Roy,Dewan Shafiul Arefin Tutul, Sheikh Md Aslam and Satyajit Das Rupu, and actors Razzak and Faruk joined the programme.

PM's Advisers Dr Moshiur Rahman, Dr Gowher Rizvi, Major General (retd) Tariq Ahmed Siddique and Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury and Special Assistant (media) Mahbubul Hoque Shakil were present,among others.
