PM for More Investment from UAE in Energy Sector

"I hope that the UAE would make more investment in Bangladesh's different sectors including power and energy," she said.

The Prime Minister said this when UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Saeed Bin Hajar Al Shehi paid a courtesy call on her at the PM's office here this morning.

After the meeting, PM's Special Assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil briefed reporters.

The Prime Minister put emphasis on boosting cooperation between Bangladesh and the UAE in the fields of trade, commerce and investment, saying: "We want to increase contact with the brotherly Muslim country."

In response, the UAE ambassador assured that his country would provide all out support for socioeconomic and infrastructure development of Bangladesh.

Dr Saeed recalled the visit of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to the UAE in 1974.

He also handed over an invitation letter of the UAE vice president and prime minister to Sheikh Hasina to visit the Arab state. Accepting the invitation, the Prime Minister said she would visit the UAE at a convenient time.

Ambassador-At-Large M Ziauddin, PM's Principal Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikdar and Special Assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil were present on the occasion.
