He was adjudged the best T20 player by CEAT International Awards 2014. This is not surprising for someone who has already secured the top Test all rounder position twice, once in 2011 and then in October 2013.

He recently concluded one of his most successful IPL ventures for the Champions Kolkata Knight Riders. Shakib scored 227 runs and took 11 wickets at an economy rate of 6.68. His 227 runs were also scored at an impressive strike rate of 149.34. He put in a number of ace performances in IPL 2014 and hit his highest score, a match-winning 60 against Bangalore. In the final, Shakib was the most economical bowler for KKR, giving away just 26 runs in his 4 overs.

Consequently, Shakib has ranked as the 6th most valuable player (MVP) in IPL 2014. Shakib, given 238.5 ranking points, is placed 35th and 21st on the runs and wickets charts respectively. Bangladesh Awami League congratulates Shakib for his consistent brilliant performances on the cricketing field and wishes him all the best for all his future endeavours in the hope that he wil use his talents to bring many more sporting glories for this nation.
