President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh greet nation on Eid-ul-Fitr

In separate messages on the eve of the holy Eid, they prayed for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country and the Muslim Ummah.

In his message, President Abdul Hamid said, "I extend my greetings and good wishes to the countrymen and all the people in the world on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr."

Eid brings the message of happiness for the mankind after the month-long practice of self-restraint, he said and added that Eid develops bondage of harmony, amity and unity among the people, irrespective of their classes and professions.

The President said the rich and the poor and the elite and the common masses share the happiness of Eid together.

He hoped that the teachings of Eid-ul-Fitr would encourage all to build a beautiful and prosperous society.

In her message, the Prime Minister called upon all to reflect the teachings of Eid-ul-Fitr in personal, social and national lives.

"After the month-long self-restraint, Eid has brought the message of happiness," she said, adding, "Eid teaches peace, sense of fellow feeling and fraternity."

Sheikh Hasina prayed to Almighty Allah for continued peace, progress and welfare of the county and the Muslim Ummah.

She hoped that Eid-ul-Fitr would bring message of happiness to all, irrespective of the rich and the poor.
