She urged the party workers to remain ready for making sacrifice as they had made for punishment of the killers of Bangabandhu after 1975.

The Prime Minister was addressing a blood donation programme of Jatiya Krishak League, peasant wing of Bangladesh Awami League, as part of the party's month-long programme marking August 15, the National Mourning Day, on the premises of Bangabandhu Bhaban here this afternoon.

"Bangladesh is going ahead facing the conspiracy of many big powers," she said, adding that the conspirators wanted to destroy the nation, but failed."

Sheikh Hasina said, "We mourned the death of Bangabandhu, but did not break down. That's why we decided to fulfill the aspirations of the Father of the Nation. We worked hard to this end day after day."

Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, Awami League Presidium member Sahara Khatun, joint secretaries Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif and Dr Dipu Moni and AL agriculture affairs secretary Dr Abdur Razzak also spoke on the occasion.

President of Krishak League Motahar Hossain Mollah was in the chair while General secretary advocate Shamsul Haque Reza and vice president Sheikh Jahangir Alam, among others, addressed the function.

At the beginning of the programme, a minute's silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of the August 15.

Pointing out the conspiracy of the anti-liberation forces, the Prime Minister said that she is not afraid of death. Her only expectation is to materialize the dream of Bangabandhu.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the Dhanmondi residence of Bangabandhu was a hostile place for the conspirators as it was the center of all movements of freedom of Bengali people. "Out of vengeance, they had killed Bangabandhu in the house from where he directed the nation for independence.

Pakistani occupation force also captured the Dhanmondi residence of Bangabandhu on the night of March 25, 1971 and looted the house for nine months. The killers did not even allow us to hold Milad in that house after 1975." She said all the victims of August 15 were either freedom fighters, or children and women. The killers announced that none would dare to bring them to book for the brutal murders.

She said Ziaur Rahman rehabilitated the killers at home and abroad and rewarded them with jobs. He also suspended the trial of the war criminals that Bangabandhu had initiated. At the call of Bangabandhu, Sheikh Hasina said, people of Bangladesh liberated the country with huge sacrifice.

Thousands of people also made supreme sacrifice for trial of the killers of Bangabandhu. The only aspirations of the people of Bangladesh are to make a happy and prosperous Bangladesh for which Bangladesh was born in 1971, she said, adding, "We will never deviate from the cherished goal."

Citing from remarks of Bangabandhu, the Prime Minister said big sacrifice is needed for any success. So Awami League workers should be ready to make any sacrifice, she added.
