The list contains those in the 67 prisons in the country and people arrested by RAB from 2011 onwards. Other government departments and agencies will be able to take assistance from this service. A dedicated team of RAB has been working on this project for the last three years.

It is expected that this database will help prevent bail absconding by repeat offenders, employment of serious offenders by hiding their identities and be particularly effective against organized criminal enterprises and militant/terrorist groups. Because the database will contain unchangeable details such as fingerprints, criminals will be unable to circumvent the system. Following in their footsteps, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is also embarking on a similar project.

This is the first time that any such initiative has been taken by the law enforcement agencies or government. The database will continuously be updated to maintain its utility.
