Bangladesh Achieves Membership In ITPEC

The Japan-based Information Technology Promotion Agency (IPA), a regulatory body for evaluating the Information Technology Engineers Examination (ITEE) conferred the ITPEC membership on Bangladesh at a function held in the auditorium of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC).

On the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the BCC and the IPA. Executive Director of BCC SM Asfak Hossain and Vice Chairman of IPA Hisaya Tanaka inked the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui attended the function as chief guest while State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Japanese Ambassador Shiro Sadoshima attended it as special guests.

Latif Siddiqui said the ITPEC membership would enable the country to give internationally recognized certificate to the IT professionals and graduates.

After becoming a member of ITPEC, Latif said Bangladesh would have the authority to hold Information Technology Engineers Examinations (ITEE) every year. He said the ITEE is the examination for evaluating skill of IT engineers and successful candidates will get global recognition, which will ensure easy access to job markets.

He said as member of ITPEC Bangladesh will now conduct ITEE every year and award internationally recognized certificate to the IT professionals and graduates.

The ITEE played an important role to develop confidence among the IT engineers for competing in the job markets worldwide, Khan added.

IT Engineer Management Project Director of BCC Sheikh Amzad Hossain said the ITEE is basically a national standardized examination of Japan for IT professionals where five to six lakh IT students and IT professionals attend every year.
