"We want more financial support from China to turn Bangladesh into a hunger and poverty-free country," she said.

The Prime Minister came up with the request when Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jun paid a farewell call on her at her office this morning.

After the meeting, PM's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed reporters.

He said the Prime Minister thanked the Chinese government for its continued assistance in Bangladesh's socioeconomic advancement, especially in the infrastructure sector. Sheikh Hasina hoped that the bilateral relations between Dhaka and Beijing would be further strengthened.

The Chinese ambassador highly praised Bangladesh's stunning success in the socioeconomic field and said it has been possible due to pragmatic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He said that Chinese investment in Bangladesh would be boosted further.

Li Jun said Bangladesh-China bilateral ties were consolidated further during the tenure of the present government.

"During the period, highest Chinese investment was made in Bangladesh," he said.

He informed the Prime Minister that the Chinese government would publish the activities of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman during his visits to China in 1952 and 1957 in Chinese language.

"We would also translate the book 'Asampta Atmajiboni' of Bangabandhu into Chinese language," he added.
