Since taking power in 2008, the government has set up eight power plants that brought 63% people under smooth power supply in all divisional cities, including Dhaka and Chittagong.
The government is implementing numerous projects to generate 24,000MW electricity by 2021, the minister said.
"We have to generate additional 15,000MW electricity to ensure power supply for everyone within 2021 which will cost TK 1,50,000 crore for it," he said.
The state minister said the ministry is working to improve power transmission capacity and expand distribution lines to supply generated electricity among new subscribers across the country.
