There was no safeguard against violation of the constitution before the fifteenth amendment of the constitution in 2009.

The Leader of the House said this while replying to a supplementary question from treasury bench member Nurul Islam Sujan in the parliament during PM's weekly question-answer time.
The Prime Minister said the Supreme Court verdict nullifying the fifth amendment of the constitution was the befitting reply to the violators as well as the remedy against the violation of the constitution.

Replying to another question from female member Fazilatunnessa Bappi, the Prime Minister expressed her firm optimism that Bangladesh as an independent nation would live amidst world community keeping its head high and with dignity.

She said the Awami League government after assuming office in 2009 has taken measures against violation of the constitution.
There was no protection in the constitution against usurp to power.
