Published on March 22, 2015"I have already asked the intelligence agencies to track down the criminals involved in setting fire to the land offices and I am now giving order to the authorities concerned to confiscate land and property of those culprits," she said.
The Prime Minister also said the land and property of those destroying land documents by torching (land) offices will have to be confiscated.
"There won't remain any rights of those culprits on the land and property of their father and grandfather and they won't also be allowed to stay in their locality. We must take stern action against them," she said.
The Prime Minister gave the directives while addressing a function on the occasion of the 40th founding anniversary of Islamic Foundation and the National Imam Conference at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre here this morning.
Her directives came as a huge number of land offices were torched by the criminals in different parts of the country in the last three months amid the hartals and blockades being enforced by the BNP-Jamaat nexus.
Sheikh Hasina posed a question that what is the mystery behind torching land offices and what mystery could remain in destroying land documents. "It is unbelievable that any human being can commit such heinous act to inflict pain or cause harm to the people. But they are committing such misdeeds" she said.
The Prime Minister said the BNP-Jamaat terrorists are killing innocent people including pregnant women and children by pouring petrol and hurling bombs. "The vehicles carrying cows, chicken and vehicles are not being spared from their heinous acts," she said.
She said it is unfortunate that when Bangladesh has been recognized as a role model of development in the world, at that time the BNP-Jamaat is unleashing militant acts and burning people to death in the country in the name of hartals and blockades.
Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman chaired the function, while Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Religious Affairs Ministry Bazlul Haque Harun was present as the special guest.
Secretary of the ministry Dr Chowdhury Mohammad Babul Hasan delivered the welcome address and Director General of Islamic Foundation Shamim Mohammad Afzal highlighted the activities of Islamic Foundation.
On behalf of the trained Imams, Maulana Abul Kashem spoke at the function.
At the function, the Prime Minister handed over prizes among the best Imams and the winners of the National Children-Juveniles Cultural Competition.
