In a meeting with her Japanese counterpart Shinjo Abe in the sideline of ASEM Summit, the Prime Minister said a national consensus has been developed in Bangladesh and intelligent people of Bangladesh are very active to overcome the situation.
Emerging from the meeting PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said Japanese premier expressed strong determination and solidarity with Bangladesh to combat terrorism.
Sheikh Hasina reiterated her condolence for the Japanese nationals who became victim of the recent terror attack in a Gulshan restaurant.
Shinjo Abe assured Sheikh Hasina of her government's determination to continue all ODA projects and sharing information to know the background of the terror attacks in Bangladesh.
He also expressed gratitude to Bangladesh Prime Minister for showing her immense sympathy and solidarity to the families of the victims after the Gulshan attack.
Condemning the barbaric attack, Shinjo Abe said the ASEM summit will deliver a strong message that we would not tolerate terrorism and will act in voice to denounce that terrorist act.
Sheikh Hasina said people of both Japan and Bangladesh along with nationals of a number of friendly countries who were working for development of Bangladesh have lost their lives in the Gulshan incident.
"We consider Japan a tasted friend and development partner. So I have given instruction to all authorities concerned to ensure safety and security of the people including Japanese who are working in various sector in Bangladesh," the Prime Minister said.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmoid Ali, PM's principal secretary Abul Kalam Azad, Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haq, Bangladesh Ambassador to Mongolia Fazlul Karim and Bangladesh Ambassador to Belgium and EU Ismat Jahan were present.
