Published on May 9, 2025In a brazen sign of weaponization of law enforcement by Yunus regime, cops allowed a mob comprised of top Yunus advocates and supporters from Yunus backed National Citizens Party to hold a staged sit-in right in front of Yunus’s official residence Jamuna for hours only because these crowds are demanding ban on Awami League.
Joined by the brigade of mob leaders who advocates for Yunus’s five year rule, the state sponsored crowd has been echoing the demand from Yunus’s current advisors for state intervention to cease the right of people to support Awami League, a clear anti democratic demand reinforcing the hypocritical and fascist cult of these mob leaders who led the violent overthrow of Awami League and brought Yunus in power.
The endorsement from cops to allow these crowd gather in front of Yunus’s residence is a farce with the state and its people as in the past Yunus unleashed cops and other forces and applied lethal means to crush scores of peaceful rallies from students, teachers, job aspirants and minorities who sought to merely stand in front of the residence to draw the attention of Yunus.
Even on March 13, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) imposed a ban on public gatherings, processions, and rallies in the areas including the official residence of the chief adviser, Jamuna, that still remains in effect.
With abuse of state power to block effort from countrymen to draw attention of Yunus by exercising their freedom of assembly in front of his residence but allowing pro Yunus supporters to use the same venue to end democratic rights of Awami League, the regime further reinforces it’s double standard and meticulous abuse of power let alone use of mob in its bid to kill democratic aspirations of people.
