Published on June 13, 2025Dr. Muhammad Yunus, globally hailed as a visionary for his “Three Zeros” — Zero Poverty, Zero Unemployment, and Zero Net Carbon Emissions — has been promoting this utopia across international platforms. But in Bangladesh, under his unelected and unlawful regime, these promises have turned into bitter failures.
Zero Poverty? No — Rising Poverty
Yunus’s regime claimed it would eradicate poverty. The reality tells a different story. In just ten months:
National poverty rate rose from 18 percent to 23.11 percent
Rural poverty climbed from 20.5 percent to 24.7 percent
Urban poverty soared from 14.7 percent to 20.43 percent
Samakal reported on 30 January 2025 that 20.3 percent of people now live below the poverty line. These figures are not just numbers — they represent the daily suffering of millions. The regime has failed to implement any policy that could even slow down this worsening crisis.
Zero Unemployment? No — Mass Joblessness
Instead of creating jobs, the regime has overseen widespread economic collapse. Banks, insurance companies, garments, factories — all are shrinking or shutting down. In ten months:
Unemployment increased by 160,000
Thousands have lost jobs across key sectors
Families are collapsing under the weight of financial despair
According to Ajker Patrika on 28 May 2025, 2.7 million people have fallen into poverty due to the economic policies of this regime. There has been no recovery plan, no employment stimulus, and no roadmap for the future.
Zero Net Carbon Emissions? No — Environmental Neglect
This promise has remained completely unaddressed. There is no evidence of a single effective step taken toward environmental protection in the last ten months. Bangladesh remains one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world, yet this regime has done nothing.
Dhaka emits 13.3 million tons of CO2 annually
No policy for green energy or carbon reduction
The regime’s Environment Advisor has become a national joke, nicknamed the “Polythene Advisor”
Jugantor’s 13 May 2024 report confirmed the extent of Dhaka’s emissions, which continue unchecked while the regime makes grand speeches abroad.
A Regime of Broken Promises
Dr. Yunus continues to sell his “Three Zeros” to foreign audiences while his own country drowns in poverty, joblessness, and pollution. His government has failed on all fronts. Instead of “Zero Poverty,” “Zero Unemployment,” and “Zero Carbon,” Bangladesh today faces three spiraling crises.
Ten months of unelected rule have brought nothing but disaster.
Even shame would be ashamed.
